![]() ![]() Will be interesting to se if you come up with similar answers.Īpologies for the lightweight comments Kyle, I did not realise that it was a racebike question. It is interesting to hear that once again bull**** does indeed baffle brains and the fork oil bought in the container showing a moto cross bike on it and saying 'for moto cross use' could contain the same oil as that in a container with a road racer on the front and saying'For road racing' etc.Apparently we motor cyclists think we need specialised oils for our brand of the sport.and probably pay a lot more for the different packaging. However there are special fork oils that contain polymers which give the oil a flatter viscosity curve thus giving roughly the same damping characteristics at a larger range of working temperatures. It like fork oil contains anti foaming additives. DONT TAKE THAT AS GOSPEL- His memory banks may not of been correct AND, more likely, I might of misunderstood him.Īpparently ATF was (is?) recommended for topping up some Jap bike forks and it is perfectly acceptable in forks for road use. On the viscosity charty thing ATF comes out, from the oil chemists memory banks, at 140. Taking my own advice.in a little effort to learn. ![]()
